One of the greatest act of charity is to pray for the living and the dead. The greatest and most powerful prayer we have is the Mass, since the fruites of the Mass are teh very fruits of Jesus' redemption. For that reason, all are encouraged to have Mass offered for loved ones who have died, or even for the living who have some need. This is an ancient Catholic practice, and all are encouraged to take advantage of this prayer opportunity.
A Mass intention may be requested for:
A deceased loved one
A living person who is sick or suffering
A living person who is celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other special event
In thanksgiving to God
In thanksgiving for a prayer from a Blessed or a Saint
A prayer intention, so long as the intention does not contradict Church teaching
A few guidelines: •
Please limit the intention to 2 names or 1 group, i.e. Mr. & Mrs. John Smith or Deceased members of the Smith family. •
Please note whether the person for whom the Mass is requested is living or deceased. •
A $10 stipend, as determined by diocesan policy, is to accompany each Mass request. Intention will not be recorded until the stipend is received. •
Requests can be made by three different ways:
Calling the St. Ann's parish office at 765-742-7031
By mailing your intention and stipend to St. Ann Church at 612 Wabash Ave. Lafayette, IN 47905
Go to saintmarycathedral.org scroll down to mass intentions and fill out the form for the mass intentions. Make sure you note within the form that you want your mass said at St. Ann Church & Shrine.
