What is Caregiver Companion?

Caregiver Companion Helps our Elderly and Physically-challenged Neighbors with                Free Non-medical In-home Volunteer Support

The ill, elderly, frail, and physically-challenged neighbors of Tippecanoe County, as well as their caregivers, receive hope and strength for a better tomorrow through our local non-profit agency, Caregiver Companion. Our staff works diligently with area service providers to recruit, train, and provide compassionate volunteers who give free practical assistance to our homebound or widowed neighbors.  With your support Greater Lafayette’s most vulnerable neighbors are able to live independently with a little volunteer help.  Sister Veronica’s legacy of showing God’s love to our neighbor is still going strong after 20 years!

New friendships and lives renewed are some of the blessings of assisting neighbors with the simple good deed of helping them get to their doctor and therapy appointments, as well as grocery shopping.  Errand running and caregiver respite breaks provide the outing and refreshment needed to cope with life’s many demands in this special “labor of love”.  Beautiful birthday cards, cards in the mailbox, a mowed lawn or a fixed cabinet all show God’s love and compassion for the person who feels isolated or alone.  Your faithful donation of time or money to Caregiver Companion ensures well-matched and caring volunteers bring our community together to support those in need of neighborly help are not alone.

Transportation requests for the necessary appointments have greatly increased the last couple of years.  We have been asked by Area IV Council on Aging if we can help meet this need for our community.  Our amazing volunteers provide this wonderful door- to- door service thus greatly reducing the stress of frequent time off work requests for caregivers in our area.  Our volunteer drivers often express how much they love meeting and helping our neighbors and our neighbors express how they love spending time with our volunteers!

November is National Caregivers Month and Caregiver Companion recognizes the caregivers who are serving in this often difficult challenge of caring for a loved one in the home. We are here to help!   We look forward to being here for YOU when you need help too!   Continue to partner with us as we work together to make a difference as we “love one another”.
